Meet Renata V. Weber, M.D., F.A.C.S.

Dr. Weber graduated magna cum laude from Seton Hall University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics. She obtained her medical degree from New York University School of Medicine and was awarded the Upjohn Award for service to the Medical School at graduation. Dr. Weber started the general surgery residency at SUNY-Downstate before completing the Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY. During her plastic surgery training, she won several research awards including 1st prize in the experimental paper category at the New York Society for Surgery of the Hand Annual Residents and Fellows Hand Conference.  She was awarded the Leo M. Davidoff Society Award for Outstanding Achievement on the Teaching of Medical Students given by Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University. Upon graduation, Dr. Weber went on to complete a Hand, Peripheral Nerve and Microsurgery Fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis, MO.

Dr. Weber spent the early part of her career in academia. At Washington University, she was honored to receive the Paul M. Weeks, MD Resident Education Award her first year in practice. The prestigious honor is given by the Division of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery to the outstanding physician educator for the academic year. Dr. Weber later returned to Montefiore Medical Center to train the plastic orthopedic surgery residents for several years before opening a private practice in norther NJ. She is Clinical Associate Professor of Surgery at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School where she is intricately involved with training the next generation of plastic surgery residents through her position at the East Orange Veteran’s Hospital and the orthopedic surgery residents at Jersey City Medical Center.

Dr. Weber is board certified by the American Board of Plastics Surgery (ABPS) and has added subspecialty qualification in surgery of the hand.

Dr. Weber joined Garden State Orthopaedic Associates in 2026 after practicing in northern NJ since 2011 bringing 20+ years of expertise in the field of hand surgery, peripheral nerve surgery and reconstructive plastic surgery to the practice. She has authored numerous articles and book chapters, has presented locally, nationally and internationally and continues to devote part of her time to clinical research aimed at improving patient care. She was a principal investigator for a multi-center national clinical study investigating the use of processed human nerve grafts in reconstruction of nerve injuries.

Dr. Weber specializes in the surgical and nonsurgical treatment of bone, muscle, tendon, ligament and joint injuries or conditions to the forearm, wrist and hand. She has a particular affinity for all things nerve, both in clinic application and research interests. She specializes in brachial plexus and complex nerve injuries, performs decompression of any peripheral nerve in the upper and lower extremity and is a recognized leader specializing in cutting edge nerve splicing surgery for the treatment of previously untreatable paralysis.

Dr. Weber is licensed in New Jersey and has privileges at The Valley Hospital, St Joseph’s Regional Medical Center, Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center and Jersey City Medical Center. She is honored to care for our Veterans at the East Orange VA.

She lives in Essex County. When not at work, she enjoys skiing, hiking, cooking and traveling.
