Meet Erik C. Zachwieja, M.D.

Dr. Erik Zachwieja is a Fellowship trained Orthopaedic Surgeon who specializes in the operative and non-operative treatment of Orthopaedic conditions of the Hip and Knee. Dr. Zachwieja has advanced training in minimally invasive Direct Anterior Hip Replacement, Partial and Total Knee Replacement, Robotic-arm Assisted Knee Replacement, complex Revision Hip and Knee Replacement, as well as Orthopaedic Trauma and Fracture Care. He provides expert care to his patients by using the latest advanced treatments and minimally invasive techniques to speed recovery and enhance function.

Dr. Zachwieja graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio summa cum laude with a Bachelors of Science in Exercise Science and was inducted into the Phi Beta Kappa Honor Society. He then received his medical degree at the University of Virginia School of Medicine where he was inducted into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Zachwieja completed his Orthopedic Surgery residency at the University of Miami after being named Chief Resident and then pursued one-year of advanced Fellowship training in Adult Reconstruction at the world-renowned Rothman Orthopedic Institute in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.

Dr. Zachwieja has published numerous peer-reviewed publications in highly rated journals and presents his research nationally at Orthopaedic conferences and meetings each year. He has strong interests in minimally invasive surgical techniques including anterior approach hip replacement, unicompartmental knee replacement, and robotically assisted knee replacement. He is dedicated to providing his patients with personalized care to help them understand their problems, consider their options and work together to pick the right solution. Dr. Zachwieja believes in treating the entire patient, with the goal of increasing mobility and function, thus improving quality of life while returning patients to an active, healthy lifestyle.
